Hi All,

I would like to inform you about an incident that happened yesterday and clarify some confusion surrounding that incident.

Yesterday at 12:30 information was received that a second grade student had been diagnosed with MRSA. Appropriate precautions were promptly taken to sanitize the room and surrounding areas. A letter was prepared to go out to all staff and 2nd grade students informing them of the situation. Yesterday at 3:05pm the child’s doctor called with new information regarding the child’s diagnosis. The doctor informed us that the child does not actually have MRSA.

Due to the time that we received this information, we were not able to retract all second grade and staff letters. Therefore, you may have heard that some people received a letter stating that a student had been diagnosed with MRSA. Please disregard this information, as it has turned out to be incorrect. A retraction letter will be sent home tomorrow to second grade families.

I apologize for raising your level of concern and appreciate your understanding of the need to take all necessary precautions in a timely manner.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know in a separate email.
