Artist-in-Residency: The Storyteller

Central and Hollywood schools will be co-hosting Brian “Fox” Ellis from March 14th -25th as an artist-in-residency.  Brian is a professional story teller who will educate and inspire students through the ancient art of storytelling.  The residency will include workshops dovetailing with curriculum, and an opportunity for students to create and share an original story.  Students will learn techniques to become better writers and develop oral language skills.

As part of the story-telling residency, students are invited to present their original stories at the Library on Wednesday, April 6 @ 3:45 pm. Storytellers in grades K-5 should register by contacting the Youth Services Department at 708-442-6366 or youthservices@riversidelibrary.org. Registration begins March 14. All ages are welcome to listen and enjoy this family-fun storytelling event

The Artist-in-Residency effort is an example of the ways in which our community schools are using professional artists to support and enhance the teaching of their curriculum.  This residency is being funded by grants from the Riverside Elementary Education Fund, Riverside Township, Target, and the fundraising efforts of the PTO/A of Hollywood and Central Schools.
