Dear Central Parents,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at Central Elementary!  All parents and teachers automatically are members of the PTO and we are happy to have you as part of our community.  By partnering with Dr. Limperis and the Central Staff, our PTO makes possible academic, cultural and recreational opportunities which are otherwise beyond the means of the school district.  Such programs include Cultural Arts and Artist-in-Residence programs, educational Field Trips, Book Fair, Family Fun Night, Great Books discussions, Talent Show, Library Readers, Skating parties, Environmental Concerns, and much, much more.  Also, brought back by popular demand, a Science Fair will be held on November 9!  As we embark upon a new school year, if we had any words of wisdom for you, it would be these:

Get Connected, Stay Informed, and Get Involved!

All communications from the school and the PTO are via electronic mail, and you can get connected and stay informed through E-Backpack and Feedblitz.  E-Backpack communications are sent from Principal Dr. Limperis every Wednesday regarding school events.   To receive weekly E-Backpack e-mails, you must subscribe by going to www.district96.org/central, where there is a sign up option located on the right hand column.  If you would like to keep apprised of upcoming PTO events and programs, subscribe to weekly “feedblitz” announcements at www.centralptonews.org.

The excellent education that our children receive is enhanced by our efforts as parents; countless studies show that children perform better in the classroom when parents participate in the school.  To this purpose, consider volunteering in the Library, participating in our Book Fair, Cultural Arts or Science Fair programs, becoming a Room Parent, or attending a PTO meeting . . . the options are endless.  It is a great way to teach our children the value of giving back to the community.

We are looking forward to a rewarding 2011 – 2012 school year.  If you would like to volunteer, or have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us.
