Family Fun Night

Join us on

September 24th from 5:30-7:30 PM*

to kick-off the school year with other Central families.

Family Fun Night will take place behind Central/Hauser in the school parking lot. This is a great way to meet new Central friends and catch up with old ones.

Don’t miss our games, prizes and giant jumpee! Dance lessons will be provided by Riverside’s Principle Dance along with rockin tunes from our DJ!

What if all of that dancing gets you hungry?

Pizza, popcorn and ice cream too! Look for more information about this exciting event over the next few weeks.

We are currently looking for parent volunteers to sign-up for 1/2 hour time slots to help set-up, serve food and supervise activities during the event on September 24th. This is a great way to meet other parents.

If you are interested in volunteering — please contact Tracy Sloan at sloant@centralptonews.org.

Thanks in advance for your help.

*Note – in the event of rain, Family Fun Night will be held in the Hauser gyms from 6:30-8:30.

Hello Students, Parents, and Faculty,
A student who attends Ames School needs our help!   His name is Ethan Tkalec, and he was diagnosed with Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN), a rare and fatal disorder.  This disorder slowly takes away all the abilities we take for granted, like walking, writing, speaking, moving around, and even swallowing.
Hannah’s Hope Fund, the organization working to find a cure and treatment for GAN, is competing for $250,000 in the Pepsi Refresh Project.  The prize money will help fund human clinical trials in 2011.  This prize money will help save Ethan’s life.

We are asking that you vote for us EVERY DAY by each method below, if you can, with your parents’ permission.  Please pass this along to all your friends. Anyone with a valid email address can vote.

We are currently in 4th place, but  need to be in 1st or 2nd to win the prize.  Please help Ethan and the other children with GAN to live!  The Contest ends August 31, 2010! TODAY

With Deep Appreciation,
Gelse and John Tkalec

EVERY VOTE IS CRITICAL!!  Vote 3 times a day!  Remember, just because you hear the Pepsi can open doesn’t mean you’ve casted your vote.  You need to then click the VOTE FOR THIS IDEA button again! (at the bottom of the screen – You’ll see the number of remaining votes go from 10 to 9.)  Only vote for Hannah’s Hope Fund in the $250k category, as we are competing against all the rest in this category to be either #1 or #2.

You can make your vote count 3 times a day!

Voting instructions
1) Vote Daily by texting To:73774 (stands for Pepsi), Message:101885 (stands for Hannah’s Hope Fund)
No additional charge to text – it’s whatever your text plan is.
2)  Vote Daily on-line at   www.refresheverything.com/hannahshopefund  with every valid email account you have: work, personal etc. Then, press the ‘VOTE FOR THIS IDEA’ button.
3) If you have a facebook account, you are able to vote AGAIN on-line daily by logging into the Pepsi site using your facebook login. After you’ve finished voting as outlined in step 2 above, click the ’sign-out’ link on bottom left of Pepsi window.  Then, click ‘sign-in’ link, and press the blue ‘LOGIN WITH FACEBOOK’ button on top left of the Pepsi sign-in window.  Then, click ‘BROWSE IDEAS & VOTE’ button on right.  On the top right of the Pepsi screen where the magnifying glass is, type Hannah’s Hope Fund in the search field. Village of Riverside Eliminates Crossing Guards

The PTA/ PTO’s of District 96 would like you to be aware the Village of Riverside has not funded crossing guards in next year’s Village budget.  District 96 has sought legal counsel regarding the implications of reimbursing the Village for the cost of the guards.

Casablanca at Hauser, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00pm

ACTION! Casablanca Debuts Next Week

The actors, stage crew and directors involved in Hauser Junior High School’s presentation of Casablanca have been working very hard, putting the finishing touches on their rendition of the movie made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Performances will take place this Tuesday, March 23, and Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the school, 65 Woodside Road, Riverside. The free performances are open to the public, so bring your friends and family to support these hard-working people!

In an interesting twist, this play, directed by Hauser teachers David Mason and Karina Koncius, will incorporate actual film, a first at Hauser Junior High School. The idea is to replicate the film angles and feel of the movie as closely as possible. More information about the play and its use of film was featured in articles that appeared in both The Landmark and Suburban Life last week.

Both directors are excited about the show this year because the great cast features very strong lead actors and a huge cast of extras, including Nazis, Moroccans and spies. Additionally, there will be a surprise at the end of a show: a technological slight of hand that will leave viewers marveling at its sophistication!

The entire cast has rehearsed tirelessly to present a high-quality, dramatic, action-filled play. For more information, please contact: Mrs. Koncius at konciusk@district96.org or Mr. Mason at masond@district96.org. See you at the show!
