We will elect the Nominating Committee for the 2010-11 PTO Executive Board.

• Help cover new books and replace tattered covers, 1 book at a time, even if you only have 15 minutes.
• Complete training will be provided at the meeting.

The PTO encourages all to attend District 96 board meetings.  Many important topics are discussed and voted on.  It is important as citizens to be informed… not to mention darn interesting.

The October board meeting is October 20 at 7:30 at Hollywood School.   Also if your schedule allows, the Education Committee meets at 5:00 at Hollywood before the board meeting.

On the agenda for discussion is now in the paperless world… how do you want to receive PTO information? Should the PTO also post to our web site? Or just point our membership to the district and central web site? This is not a discussion of how the district or school communicates but rather how best for the PTO to communicate?

Also on the discussion agenda is should we look into a Scrip program for fundraising?

Central School’s Fall Parent night is an opportunity to meet your children’s classroom teacher and hear what is planned for this upcoming year. This is a parent only event. PTO does not provide babysitting.

This informative event begins at 7:00 PM in the auditorium with a welcome by Central’s School principal, Dr. Janice Limperis.

Interested in joining our newly formed committee? Dawn Gmitro, our Environmental Concerns Chair, will host a volunteer meeting on September 24th at 8:45 in the Central Conference Room. They will discuss ideas and goals for the upcoming year.

WHEN? Monday, September 14, 2009 8:30 a.m.

WHERE? Central School 1st floor conference room

WHO? Moms, Dads, Grandparents.


WHY? Cultural Arts is an easy and great way to be involved in your child’s class.

HOW EASY IS IT? You choose the date and time of the day that works for you within the school year. Just arrange it with your child’s teacher.

WHAT WOULD I DO? You present the “picture of the month” to the class. You can work with a friend (or spouse) if you like. It is up to you. The research is done for you on the artist and the artwork…and is available on-line. Learn a little and share a little with the class.

You also conduct an art related activity as a follow-up to the artist and artwork that was looked at that day. (Ideas and suggestions are provided – folders provide examples).

The whole thing takes about 45 minutes. That’s it!

WOULD I LIKE IT? Most likely, YES.

HOW DO I SIGN UP? An information and sign-up meeting will be held on September 14th at 8:30 a.m. in the Central conference room. Don’t worry if you cannot make the meeting, you may also sign up in the school office at the front desk through September 30, 2009. Our first PTO meeting of the 2009-10 year is tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 1st at 9:00AM in the school library. As is customary, Dr. Jon Lamberson and Dr. Janice Limperis will attend and present their exciting plans for the upcoming school year. If you cannot attend, please watch our website for the posting of the minutes.

Welcome Back to school. The PTO is looking forward to another fantastic year. A lot of exciting events are planned for this year. Our first being the Fantastic Family Fun night on September 25th. Hope to see you on Sept 1st at our first PTO general meeting.
