Follow pool rules and Riverside Brookfield Swim Club swimmer (“RBSC”) rules and behave appropriately at all RBSC meets, practices and other functions. 5. Understand that swimmers whose behavior does not meet this Code are subject to disciplinary action, including suspension and removal from Otters. Name of Swimmer I have received and agree to follow the RBSC Code of Conduct at all times. Swimmer’s Signature Date Riverside Brookfield Swim Club Swimmer Code of Conduct Philosophy The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to insure that all swimmers are provided an environment that allows them and the team the opportunity to reach their goals. Riverside Brookfield Swim Club (“RBSC”) believes a swimmer’s conduct at practices and meets should support every other swimmer’s ability to learn and the coach’s ability to teach other swimmers. Disciplinary Policy In order to assure all swimmers are fairly treated, the RBSC has created a three step disciplinary policy. Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct will result in the following disciplinary actions: • First violation: The Head Coach or a Board member will explain the violation to the parent or guardian, and a disciplinary letter explaining the misconduct may be sent home. If a letter is sent home, the swimmer’s parent or guardian must sign the letter and return it to the Head Coach or Board member before the swimmer will be allowed to return to practice and/or meets. • Second violation: The swimmer will receive a one week suspension. The Head Coach or a Board member will explain the violation to the parent or guardian. A letter is sent home and the swimmer’s parent or guardian must sign the letter and return it to the Head Coach or Board member before the swimmer will be allowed to return to practice and/or meets. That swimmer’s parents or guardians will be invited to meet with the Board but the swimmer will be suspended pending the outcome of any discussion. • Third violation: The swimmer will be expelled from the team for the remainder of the current season. A letter is sent home and the swimmer’s parent or guardian must sign the letter and return it to the Head Coach or Board member. That swimmer’s parents or guardians will be invited to meet with the Board but the swimmer will be suspended pending the outcome of any discussion. • The Board of Directors reserves the right to suspend or expel any swimmer regardless of whether it is a first, second or third violation if the swimmer’s misconduct is repeated or excessive. • Expelled swimmers will not receive refunds. • The parent or guardian of an expelled swimmer may petition the Board to reinstate the swimmer’s membership in a future season following expulsion. The petition will have to show how the swimmer has improved his or her behavior and the Board will among other things consider the response of the swimmer’s parent or guardian to the expulsion letter and the results of the meeting, if any, following the expulsion notice. • The Board’s decision on suspensions and expulsions is final. The RBSC Board and coaching staff endorse and support this Code of Conduct. The coaching staff is responsible for of the day-to-day management of this Code of Conduct but the Board is responsible for assuring it is fairly administered. Any questions concerning the policy or actions that result from this Code of Conduct shall be directed to the Board of Directors. I have received and understand and will encourage my swimmers to follow the RBSC Code of Conduct at all times. Parent’s or Guardian’s Signature Date
